PLAY OF THE DAY!

Coming off one of the most DRAMATIC ALCS games in recent history, the Yankees and Guardians are back at it for Game 4 tonight. It was 3-1 in the top of the 8th inning, but obviously the home run theatrics from both sides took over from there, with the game ending 7-5. Aside from the theatrics yesterday, this game went into extra innings and BOTH teams threw their best relievers, which may lead to some of them being unavailable tonight. Rookie Luis Gil makes the biggest start of his life tonight in a HOSTILE environment. Post All-Star Break, Gil pitched to a 4.20 ERA, .223 batting average against, and 1.42 WHIP. At the end of the day, he may have to go longer than the Yankees would like, given that Clarke Schmidt went just 4.2 innings yesterday and Gerrit Cole went only 4.1 innings in Game 2. On the flip side, Gavin Williams is making the start for the Guardians. He was rather ineffective this season, pitching to a 4.86 ERA and 1.37 WHIP this season. At home, he was downright TERRIBLE, pitching to an UGLY 6.55 ERA, .309 batting average against, and 1.70 WHIP! Needless to say, he may not be long for this game, but the Guardians need length from their starter as well. He was pretty bad Post All-Star Break as well, pitching to a 5.11 ERA, .245 batting average against, and 1.36 WHIP. As shown last night, the Yankees can score runs FAST and they know they need to score runs tonight. With Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and their friends, they just have SO MANY WAYS to score! If the Guardians can continue their contributions like they did last night, we SHOULD be in store for more scoring! Each of the last 2 games in this series went over the total, and Game 1 landed on 7 runs. The Yankees have scored AT LEAST 5 runs in every game this series, and their offensive prowess SHOULD continue tonight!
