PLAY OF THE DAY!
The Hurricanes got off to a bad start this season, losing 4-1 at home against the Lightning to begin the season. However, they haven’t played since that game, and dating back to the preseason, they’ve played just once since October 5th! They should be well rested and READY TO GO! The Devils are playing the second game of a back-to-back, their 3rd game since the 12th, and 4th game since October 10th! They’ve won 4 of their first 5 games, but this is a PRIME spot for a letdown. Devils goalie Jacob Markstrom was iffy on the road last year, saving just .891% of shots against him and giving up nearly 3 goals per contest. That’s BAD NEWS facing a Hurricanes team that has ELITE offensive playmakers AND the rest advantage! Sebastian Aho, Seth Jarvis, Martin Necas, an Andrei Svechnikov will be ready for puck drop at Lenovo Center. The key to this Play will be Hurricanes goalie Pyotr Kochetkov. The 25-year-old is making his season debut tonight. If he can keep the Devils’ high-flying offense in check, Carolina SHOULD be able to score and get the Hurricanes on track this season! The Devils have A LOT of offensive talent, led by Jack Hughes, Jesper Bratt, Nico Hischier, and Timo Meier, so the Hurricanes will have their hands full tonight. However, with the added rest advantage and needing a win, the Hurricanes SHOULD be able to do enough to slow them down.
