BREAKING NEWS:
Russell Westbrook is finalizing a buyout with the Utah Jazz and plans to sign with the LA Clippers. The Clippers are healthier than they’ve been all year, and currently have the fifth best odds to win the NBA Championship, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. How does Westbrook fit into these plans? Westbrook is a bit of an energizer bunny, and could take a similar role for the Clippers. Talent wise, these guys are loaded. Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and more recently Terance Mann have been leading the charge. They have excellent role players too, such as Ivica Zubac and Nicolas Batum. However, they have plenty of older players as well. Leonard, George, and Batum are all on the wrong side of 30. Every team needs a player to provide a spark of energy, and Westbrook can surely do that. He isn’t a very good shooter anymore, but the Clippers have tons of shooters to choose from when they need a bucket.
The bottom line is that this is a low risk, high reward move for the Clippers as they embark on the stretch run of the season.
