We all know Devin Booker is a heck of a player who has shown he can knock down shots from the moment he entered the NBA. However, the Phoenix Suns shooting guard is choosing a great time to have the best couple of games in his young career. He’s had no less than 35 points in each of his last 3 games against the Denver Nuggets. With his team down 2-0 in their best-of-7 series, he had 47 points in Game 3 and 36 in Game 4, both wins for the Suns. He was historically efficient in Game 4 as well, hitting 14 of the 18 shots he took. However, he’s doing more than just scoring for his team. He has 21 assists and 12 rebounds over the last 2 games. He’s a budding superstar in this league, and he’s been here before. He was a big part of the Suns in 2019 when they went to the NBA Finals. He’s drawing on his prior experience to lead his team when his team needs him most.
In the playoffs, you need your best players to step up. Against the Number 1 seed and down 2-0, there was virtually no room for error for the Suns. In these moments, your superstars have to step up. Devin Booker has done that and more for the Suns. It’s now a best-of-3 series, with the pressure now going back to the Nuggets, as they hope to win tonight to guarantee a Game 7 in their own building.
This is why we love the playoffs so much. This is how legacies are both born and shaped. The best step up on the biggest stages, when their teams need them the most. We can’t wait to see how the rest of this series plays out.
