Today is a GREAT day for baseball fans everywhere.
All fans wake up happy. It feels just a little bit nicer outside. Work doesn’t seem to be as big a deal as normal today. It’s finally here: the MLB season officially gets underway today. As far as we’re concerned, today should be a federal holiday! Every fan of every single team wakes up today with a chance. Sure, in August, fans of the Pirates and Royals may not be very happy. But you know what? There’s surprises every single season. Most fans wouldn’t have thought the Phillies would’ve been two wins away from a Worls Series championship last year, or that they would’ve been playing the Padres in the NLCS to go to the World Series. Surprises happen every year, to both good and bad teams.
There’s also plenty of rule changes that are going into effect this season. Some of these changes, like the pitch clock and the amount of times you can throw to first, can drastically change how the game is played. Not only will these rules greatly impact the way we bet on the games, it’ll impact the time of the game, pitchers getting tired earlier, and could potentially lead to substantially more offense throughout the course of the year. This is the preliminary data that came out of Spring Training games with these rules. To help dissect this and discuss how this will impact the future of baseball, please take a listen below.
