Xam’s Gem(s):
Angels/Rays Over 8 Runs -110
Both starters have been ineffective recently, but Reid Detmers hasn’t been very good much at all this year. His ERA for the year sits at 4.77. Over his last 7 games, however, he’s been even worse, with a 5.94 ERA. The Rays have been hitting a lot recently and should be able to continue that tonight. Aaron Civale, overall, has had a good season, pitching to a 3.06 ERA this year. However, he may be wearing down a little as the season has gone on. He has a 4.43 ERA in his last 15 games. The Angels can run cold at the dish, but if they can contribute just a little bit, the Rays should be able to do the rest and turn this into a shootout.
Yankees +1.5 -170
Not much has gone right for the Yankees this year, but Michael King has pitched very well since joining the starting rotation. King has been great all year, with a 2.77 ERA. However, in his last 15 games, he’s pitched to an absurd ERA of just 1.98! Gausman has been good in his own right this year, but has a 4.05 ERA in his last 7 games. Gausman also has a 4.32 ERA in night games this year. The Yankees are playing for pride now, and would surely love nothing more than to send their division rivals home.
Cubs Money Line -178
The Cubs got back on track yesterday, and now have a Cy Young candidate on the mound. Justin Steele wasn’t great in his last start, but no one can complain about his 2.73 ERA this year. Mitch Keller, on the other hand, has been up and down this year. He has a 4.04 ERA this year, and a 4.47 ERA over his last 30 games. However, he’s been dreadful on the road, pitching to a 5.15 ERA. The Cubs should be able to keep it rolling at home tonight.
Brewers/Cardinals Over 8.5 Runs -110
Both pitchers in St. Louis tonight have had their fair share of struggles this season. Adrian Houser has a 4.53 ERA this year, but he’s fallen apart over his last 7 games, pitching to a 5.85 ERA. Zach Thompson hasn’t thrown many innings this year, but the results haven’t been promising. He has a 4.34 ERA this year, and a 5.21 ERA over his last 15 games. Both teams have shown an ability to score runs, and we should see plenty tonight.
Xam’s Prop(s):
Kevin Gausman Under 7.5 Ks -104
Gausman has 7 or less Ks in 4 of his last 6 starts, and in 3 of them he has 5 or less. In his last 7 games, Gausman is averaging under 6.5 Ks per start. He also averages under 7 Ks on the road this year. The Yankees are around the middle of the pack when it comes to strikeouts as a team, but at home, they only average just over 8 strikeouts per game at home.
Justin Steele Over 5.5 Ks -156
Steele only had 5 strikeouts in his last start, but he’s racked up the strikeouts all year. The Pirates have averaged 12.67 strikeouts per game over the last 3 games, and struck out 16 times yesterday! Steele has averaged over 7 Ks per start in his last 7 games. So long as Steele can keep his pitch count in check, he should be able to hit 6 strikeouts (at least) tonight.
