Xam’s Daily Gems:
Dodgers Money Line -125 DraftKings
The Dodgers come in riding high off a dominant win and now face a Yankees team that will likely be without Juan Soto tonight. Yoshinobu Yamamoto goes for the Dodgers and he’s been good all season, but in particular his last 7 games. He has a 2.72 ERA over his last 7 starts and an impressive 2.60 road ERA! The Dodgers have an ELITE lineup and should be able to hit Yankees starter Cody Poteet tonight. If Yamamoto can keep his recent success going, he shouldn’t have ANY ISSUES getting it done against a lineup missing their hottest hitter.
Cardinals -1 -144 DraftKings
They burned us yesterday, but we’re RIGHT BACK on the bandwagon! Lance Lynn has a solid 3.23 ERA on the year and has given up just one earned run in his last 3 starts, despite facing solid lineups in the Phillies, Reds, and Orioles. Southpaw Austin Gomber goes for the Rockies, and he’s been good in his own right. However, he’s pitching significantly better than he has in recent years, so there SHOULD be some negative regression coming at some point. The Cardinals HAVE TO get their offense going. Despite big names like Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt, the lack of hitting has been hurting them all year. If they can get some run production tonight, they SHOULD be able to even up this series!
Blue Jays Money Line -142 FanDuel
Chris Bassitt goes for the Blue Jays tonight, and he’s been solid recently. He’s given up 3 earned runs in his last 3 starts combined. Now he faces arguably the worst lineup in baseball in the Oakland Athletics. The A’s have scored just 32 runs in their last 10 games, and have struggled to score for most of the year. The Blue Jays finally seem to be getting on track, winning 7 of their last 10 games. They have struggled to score for most of the year, but they’ve been a little better recently, averaging 4.55 runs per game in their last 20 games. If they can keep that production going, they SHOULD be able to score enough to get it done in Oakland!
Astros -1 -149 DraftKings
Fading the Angels is never a bad idea, and we get to do it with Framber Valdez tonight! Valdez has 2 straight quality starts and is coming off one of his best starts of the season in his last game against the Twins. The Angels have struggled to score without Mike Trout in the lineup all year. They’re averaging just 2.6 runs per game in their last 10 games. That makes it hard to win against anyone, but Angels starter Griffin Canning NEEDS run support. He has an average 4.69 ERA on the year and he has a career ERA of 6.99 against the Astros! The Astros started off slow this year but they’re picking it up and the offense has been producing. With their day off yesterday, they SHOULD have their entire bullpen available as well! If the Astros can put some runs on the board, they shouldn’t have ANY ISSUES getting it done in LA tonight.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto Over 5.5 Ks -160 FanDuel
Yamamoto is averaging 6.3 strikeouts per game this season, he’s cleared this number in EACH of his last 4 starts, AND done so in 8 of his last 10 starts! He should have the chance to go as long as he can, given how many outs the Dodgers needed out of their bullpen in each of the last 2 games. He’s thrown 100 or more pitches in each of his last 3 starts, and may have the chance to go a little bit further than that tonight! He has elite swing and miss stuff, and if Juan Soto misses the game, that’ll be an elite contact hitter and guy who knows the strike zone that won’t be there to give Yamamoto trouble.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto Over 17.5 Outs Recorded -140 DraftKings
Yamamoto is averaging 6.1 innings pitched in his last 7 starts and the Dodgers could really use some length tonight from their starter. Walker Buehler lasted just 3 innings last night and James Paxton went just 1.2 innings the night before! Yamamoto has gone 6 innings or more in 6 of his last 8 starts and went 5.2 innings in one of his other starts. He’s pitching with a ton of confidence and the Yankees may be without Juan Soto tonight. The Dodgers have every reason to push Yamamoto tonight and this is the perfect spot for him to pitch DEEP into this game.
Framber Valdez Over 17.5 Outs Recorded -160 DraftKings
Framber Valdez is a WORKHORSE! He’s averaging just over 6 innings pitched per game this season. Even when he’s not pitching particularly well, he still finds a way to get outs! He’s averaging a shade over 6 innings pitched in his last 7 games despite having a 4.46 ERA in that stretch. He’s pitched 6 innings or more in each of his last 2 starts and in 4 of his last 5 starts. In 3 of those starts, he’s gone 7 innings! The Angels have a weak lineup so if Valdez can keep his pitch count under control, he shouldn’t have ANY ISSUES clearing this number and gettting DEEP into this game!
