The Mets are struggling coming into this game. They’re 2-6 in their last 8 games and were non-competitive in the first game of this series last night, losing 8-0. However, today they send Luis Severino to the mound. He’s arguably been their best pitcher this season, coming into this start with a 3.00 ERA. He’s been better at home than on the road, but the Marlins have one of the worst lineups in baseball. The Marlins are averaging 3.71 runs per game and have scored the 2nd fewest runs in the National League! Severino has given up 2 earned runs or less in 5 of his last 7 starts. The Marlins counter with southpaw Braxton Garrett. He’s been nothing short of TERRIBLE this season, coming into today’s start with a grotesque 8.44 ERA! The Mets HAVE TO be able to produce against him. They also should have all of their elite bullpen arms available as well. The Mets are the better team, with the better pitcher on the mound, AND the better lineup! If Severino can keep up his recent success, the Mets SHOULD be able to score enough to get their 1st win of this series!
